I thought a group of pirates was a crew.
According to The Wordsworth Dictionary of Pirates Mary Read was a pirate about whom little is known. A second entry covers the biography made up by Daniel Defoe.

hehe... there's a movie, apparently... called "band of pirates"... it's out this month... co-inidence? I think not.
